West TN Jamborees’

Amber choctaws
2016 Amber Thompson shoots a 3 for Dyer Co.

High School basketball in Tennessee is starting up and that means jamborees and “Hall of Fame” games are going on across the state. On November 8th, I got the opportunity to go to 3 different jamborees in the rural west Tennessee area. On November 15th, I got the opportunity to attend the SCIAA jamboree in Memphis that was played at Southwind High School and also attended 3 games at Crockett County High School in Alamo Tennessee. The following is a brief rundown of the players that stood out to me.

Peabody Jamboree

Madison Heckert, 2016, 6’4 Post, West Carroll HS (Atwood, TN) – Madison is coming off of a great summer of exposure ball where she plays for TeamSlink. Madison continued to play at an extremely high level in this jamboree game against Fayette Academy. She blocked shots, got rebounds, ran the floor well, and finished solidly around the basket. Madison’s stock continues to increase each time I see her play. Mid-Majors to BCS schools should be all over this kid right now.
