Tennessee Miss Basketball Finalist

2016 Madison Heckert of undefeated West Carroll SNUBBED by voters

Going to add some commentary here. I think there are some pretty big omissions here.

The first being Madison Heckert.  The junior scored her 1000th point this year average a double-double and putting up double doubles almost every game including a few triple doubles.  She lead her team (an unheralded one at best) to an undefeated record.

The second big omission I would argue is Myah Taylor from Dyersburg.  Myah has consistently been one of the best players in West Tennessee for 4 years putting up huge numbers.  The UT-Martin signee has nearly 2000 points, 800 rebounds and over 300 steals.  She led her team to the state tournament as a junior.  She’s currently averaging 24PPG and 9.2 RPG this season.

Finally despite her youth Anastasia Hayes should certainly have been considered, the sophomore averages 19 points per game and her team played one of the toughest schedules in the state. Despite Riverdale being very young they were easily one of the top 5 or 6 teams statewide, and their top player certainly deserves some recognition.

Callie Hackett, Smith County

Anna Hammaker, CAK

Kayla Marosites, Elizabethton

Class AAA Miss Basketball Finalists

Brandi Beasley, Ridgeway

Crystal Dangerfield, Blackman

Alex Johnson, Blackman

Division II-A Miss Basketball Finalists

Kaylan Pugh, St. Mary’s

Micah Scheetz, Webb School of Knoxville

Division II-AA Miss Basketball Finalists

Jordyn Cambridge, Ensworth

Kaleigh Clemons, Baylor

Sydni Harvey, Brentwood Academy

Going to add my predictions as well –
Single A – Again it’s a travesty because Madison Heckert is probably deserving of Miss Basketball and she’s not even a nominee. But I’m going to go with Averyale Joy. Middleton is undefeated too and she’s their best healthy senior.

Double A – Kayla Marocites – It’s not even close. Best player on the best team by a long shot.

Triple A – Like Marocites it’s really not a tough choice. Crystal Dangerfield is the best player on the best team buy quite a bit.

D2- A – Another case of a 1 player race…it’s Kaylan Pugh, Ohio State signee.

D2-AA – Could go to any of the 3 but I’m going with the best overall talent and that’s Cambridge.
