Covering Prospective Student-Athletes in the SouthEast US and beyond

NYG Hoops coverage of IE Jr All-American Camp HS Div.

June 17, 2016

Memphis, TN- This past weekend many of the Midwest and Mid-South unsigned high school prospects assembled at the Insider Exposure All- American camp from Classes 2017 to 2019. NYGHoops was in attendance to provide blanket coverage for the event. This write-up does not cover all of the prospects at the event, only some of the ones I was able to see.

Kayla Mitchell 5’04 PG NEA Banshees 2019

Mitchell was a consummate floor general who runs a team exceptionally, while also finding ways to put the ball in the basket herself. Mitchell is an outstanding ball handler and showed good command of the ball. She showed good quickness and explosiveness attacking the rim. While I did not get the opportunity to see her shoot many perimeter shots, her ability to get by people left her not needing to.

Lanetta Williams 6’04” F Team Penny 2019

An extremely long and athletic young power forward who needs a little more development to turn into a face of a college program. This lefty has great size and a big wingspan for a power forward position. She is not physically built, but she does not shy away from contact. Williams showed the ability to score from all over the court.

Myah Taylor 5’07” G Alabama Southern Starz 2017 (Miss St. Commit)

Taylor is considered one of the top PGs in the class of 2017 in the state of Mississippi and it wasn’t too hard to see why. Although she projects as a long, athletic point guard with a dependable handle, she also doubled as a reliable scorer at the event. Her ability to break defenders down off the bounce did not go unnoticed as she scored at all three levels and showed the ability to shoot floaters over post players.

Liz Dixon 6’04” P Tenn Flight 2018

Dixon moves well for a young lady her size. She showed good agility and lateral movement. Another thing that stood out was her ability to pass the ball as a post. As a defender she blocked a few shots, but her ability to alter shots was just as remarkable. She was a bit raw offensively, but she scored on put-backs and in transition.

Ya’Taria Coleman 5’09” W Memphis Lady Mambas 2019

First thing you notice about Coleman is her explosiveness and ball handling. There were not too many guards that stopped her from getting to the basket, with her dynamite first step and ability to get the ball off.

Taylor Williams 5’10” G Team Slink 2017

Williams was magnificent as a spot-up shooter at the Insider Exposure All American camp. Her scoring instincts make her a little more than a shooter. She showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and deliver on mid-range shots. She also showed potential in drive and dish situations, rebounding and basketball cleverness.
