Courtney Thrun – 2017 Player Profile

By Lou X

Courtney Thrun, a class of 2017 5’10 wing has been recently creating a lot of buzz. The athletic scorer from Saskatchewan, Canada came to the USA last year to play in the spring live period with the NYC Heat coached by Kevin White, and started her post-grad year of school this past September at Wilbraham & Monson Academy (MA). After gathering multiple Division I offers, she finished the season by leading her team to the NEPSAC Semi-finals and earning an All-Star selection.

Since then, Courtney has taken multiple Division I official visits and had a breakout weekend last week playing for the Castle Athletics (Adidas) program coached by Tommy Catalanotto, at the Lightning Challenge, where she showcased her full arsenal of offensive skills; scoring on the break, finishing around the rim, making open jump shots, and penetrating to the basket. She also defended all 5 positions on the court.

Courtney is a 3.95 gpa honors student who was also a track star back in Canada. As she decides on a college, she continues to show her work ethic is unmatched by balancing a full school schedule that includes multiple AP classes, while traveling back and forth from Massachusetts to New York City for AAU.

Although once considered a diamond in the rough, Courtney has now established herself as a Division I recruit.
