Covering Prospective Student-Athletes in the SouthEast US and beyond
by David Kent @coachkent02 on twitter
I woke up Saturday morning, got on the highway and headed south to Mooresville to arrive at Talbert Rec Center. I arrived at the I-77 evalshow put on by Carolina girls hoop report and nyg Hoops. They always do a great job of getting talent in the building. They had Talent from five different states there and here’s some of the talent that I found at the event.
Caitlyn Jones 5″3 PG 25 NC team Felton
Caitlin did a great job attacking the basket and drawing contact to either get to the line or finish through it. She plays on both sides of the ball and does a good job on the ball and great job playing passing lanes. She’s able to knock down jumpers and I look forward to see what she adds to her arsenal in the future.
Isabella Howell 5″6 CG 24 GA Woods Elite
Isabel is a tough nose defender that works on both sides of the floor. She does a pretty good job of playing without the ball and is able to set herself up to score. She has a deadly shot from 15 to 18 and is also able to knock down the three ball.
Zamareya jones 5” PG 24 NC Carolina Elite asgr
Zamareya is a special talent in that she is very crafty with the ball. She understands ball screens very well for her age and she’s able to get into the paint and draw multiple defenders and find the kick out pass. She’s able to knock down shots. Coaches don’t be scared of the height, she can hold her own against taller stronger guards.
Rania Curry 5″7 Wing 24 GA SC76ers
Rania has good length and the athletic ability play Passing Lanes really well on the defensive side. She was able to knock down the open jumpers from 15 and the three ball. She did a great job of using her Court Vision to create scoring opportunities for teammates or herself. This kid has a bright future and I look forward to seeing her again soon.
Kate Sears 5″7 PG 25 NC peak basketball
Kate is a left-hander Sassoon able to knock down the three ball and also able to get into the paint and score. Because she can get into the paint so easily, she’s able to set her teammates up and she has the Court vision to find them.
Joyce Edwards 6″1 Wing/Forward 24 SC SC76ers
Joyce is obviously special. I noticed it the first two minutes I saw her play. She’s a great athlete who understands how to create opportunities for other players and makes everyone around her better. It’s pretty obvious why South Carolina offered her as an 8 th grader. Bcs College coaches should know this kid.
Hannah Waddell 5″6 CG 24 NC Erwin Middle “ diamond in the rough”
Hannah can knock down the three ball at a high consistency. She does a good job of creating space for scoring opportunities for herself and she understands how to keep offensive players in front of her. This kid has a tremendous upside. I cannot wait to see what she does in the future.
Miya Giles-Jones 6″0 wing 23 NC Fayetteville stars
Miya came to I-77 and put everyone on notice that she deserves National recognition. Super athletic wing who plays super with the ability to rebound outside of her area. She’s able to score from all three levels and does a great job of getting into the paint and creating contact to get to the line. And she’s able to guard multiple positions and has good timing to block shots
Emma Fox 6″4 post 22 NC I 40 Elite “ diamond in the rough”
Emma has done a crazy job of changing her body. She has great hands and Good Feet with the ability to score in the paint through contact. She will knock down the 15-foot jump shot and does a great job of rebounding, keeping the ball high. Every school in North Carolina should know who this kid is.
McKenzie Graves 5″5 Pg 25 NC team Felton
Mackenzie has always been great if creating scoring opportunities for herself but this weekend I’ve seen how great of a point guard she actually is. How she’s able to get into the paint and set up players for easy baskets either for the big or for the kick out for the three-point shot. And she is a dog on the defensive end.
Kiara Croskey 5″5 Pg 24 SC team Felton
Kiara does a great job of getting into the paint. Once she is there she can score one of three ways, the floater, the pull up or all the way to the basket. She can score from all three levels as well. This kid has a bright future and I look forward to seeing what she does in the future.
Ella Hobbs 6″3 post 24 NC Carolina Elite
Ella is a kid I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops over the next couple of years. She has great hands and understands keeping the ball high from rebounds or when she’s gets the ball into the post. Defensively she does a good job of Walling up and not swatting at the ball. Division 1 coaches you should definitely know who this kid is.
Maddie Dillinger 6”0 Wing/Forward 21 NC team loaded
Maddie is a great rebounder and able to rebound outside of her area and able to outrebound taller players. She’s able to score from all 3 levels with a jump shot that is consistent. She does a great job of talking on defense, directing traffic from the back line. She understands the pick-and-roll, window roll & window pop
