2020 Independent School Nationals

Independent School National Championship

We arrived in Mooresville and walked into the Talbert Rec Center before the first round of the girls games began. I spoke with John Mcgraw, got everything situated for the games to begin, sat down with my camera and started my evaluations. The first day of games brought a lot of excitement and spotlighted a lot of talent. In day two, most games were decided by ten or less points and by the end of day Saturday, when the smoke cleared, we had two teams for the Elite Championship and Gold Championship. Saint James School vs Excel Hoops Prep represented the Gold Championship while Blair Academy vs Winston Salem Christian represented the Elite Championship.

On Sunday Excel Hoops Prep came out with the win over Saint James School and Winston Salem Christian captured the win over Blair Academy in a clash of the titans.

The weekend brought a lot of talent that many have seen before but it also brought a lot of new talent to the national stage. Here are some of the talent that stood out to me.

Jayde Tschritter 5’8” 21 CG DME

Madison is a lights out 3 point shooter. Defenders must run her off the line or she will make them pay. She does a decent job of keeping kids in front of her and she absorbs contact while going to the basket and still scores.

Jaylin Hartman 6’2” 23 Wing Blair “Diamond in the rough”

Jaylin is a long athletic wing that is able to guard multiple positions. She scores well off the 3 point line and mid range and does a decent job finishing around the rim. I look forward to seeing her develop in the future. She is a must know kid.

Gabby Grantham-Medley 5’10” 23 Wing Saint James

Gabby is dog on both ends of the floor. Throughout the whole weekend she pulled out either big buckets or big stops. This kid has a very bright future.

Tabitha Amanze 6’4” 22 Post Blair

If Insider Exposure gave out a most improved player award from last years tournament it would be Tabitha by far. She has done a great job in the weight room to change her body. On the offensive end she has multiple ways to make the defenders pay and does a decent job guarding multiple positions off of the switch and an awesome job on the glass. College coaches definitely need this kid now.
